Manor “Marfino” appeared at the end of the XVIII century by the mercy of Field Marshal Saltykov, who at one time defeated the King of Prussia Frederick the Great under Kunersdorf. Not only outstanding Russian architects, but also talented serf masters were involved in its creation.
Once the manor was glorious with magnificent receptions and theatrical performances, being the concentration of the cultural and spiritual life of a noble society: it was often performed by famous European artists and musicians who came on tour to Moscow. The glory of the Marfin festivities and dog hunts rattled throughout the country.
Now, from the past, there is no trace of a trace – the estate is taken seriously by one of the oldest in the Moscow military sanatoriums. For this reason, it is not easy to get to the territory of the estate: a special pass must be booked at the sanatorium.
But there are still workarounds. First you need to go over the wooden bridge pond, around which the main buildings of the manor are grouped. Somewhere in the greenhouses in the fence there are holes that can be easily found on the tram tracks leading to them. In winter, the task is simplified: the fence goes around the ice of the pond.
Especially deserves a descent from the manor to the water, which ends with a small harbor with winged griffins, and garden pavilions, which have remained untouched since the days of Saltykov.
